5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelieveably good!, September 19, 2010

After struggling with my 10 year old Basset Hound for a decade I broke down and decided to purchase the SportDOG E collar.

Let me just say my dog has been a major source of aggravation and disruption to my home life over the years. I had basically resigned my self to the fact that the only solution to this stubborn dog was to out live him!

I knew some about E collars but was fearful that it might not work or it might be cruel to my dog to use. But, I broke down and bought it out of desperation.

My wife and I received the collar quickly, as is usual with Amazon, and opened it up and installed the batteries that are included. We were hopeful but skeptical of obtaining a positive result.

We allowed our dog to adjust to the collar for a couple of days, without using it, which was no problem with him. He wore it just like his regular collar. Then I let my wife use the controller because the dog is actually hers and I did not want to be perceived... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy with this economical collar from Sportdog, January 28, 2010

This review is from: SportDOG Stubborn Dog Yard Trainer, SD-105S (Misc.)
After much research, I decided to buy the Sportdog yard collar for Stubborn dogs. My dog weighs 67 pounds and is lean and tall so I figured this collar would be more effective. I was looking for a quality product but didn't want to spend alot of money to get collars with 400 or 800 yard range. My purpose was to correct my dog's behavior at the park (a place where he doesn't listen me) gently and effectively. As soon as my dog began to eat stuff he shouldn't at the park I used the tone function. He immediately stopped! I didn't even need to use the shock button. For the past two visits to the dog park, I have used mostly the tone to correct bad behavior. Only twice did I use the stimulation button which I had set at only level 2. I am so amazed by how well this works! I am happy I decided to get this product and didn't have to spend a ton of money to get something good. I highly recommend this if your dog is on the larger side and you will be working with him or her in a... Read more

My dog is normally off the wall, and does not listen AT ALL. Just think of "Marley and Me"...he's that dog haha. I bought this collar and took him out in public with no leash..just the collar, and he listened SO well. He stayed right by my side the entire time and did not bother anyone. I didn't even have to use the shock button...I just use the beep sound and he comes right to me. This product is a life saver.

I wondered if these reviews were real or hype. But I read one review in particular and i went ahead and bought it. We have a retriever chow rescue who is a great dog and wants to please. But with 7 acres and deer and hunters an electric fence was out of the question. So was the questionable 300.00 perimeter machine. We want him to have his freedom while we're with him. collar arrived in 2 days.charged it in 2 hours and put it on next day. out in the yard for a walk around the property, just as the review i read said, the vibration alone got his attention.I have to add my husband was brave enough to try the LOW SHOCK and it was super powerful I wouldn't try it after his reaction and we then said we'd never shock him on high.Walking near the back field he took off (he always comes back (WHEN HE'S READY BEING THE PROBLEM),but remember he's a retriever)the low shock caused him to yelp and head back towards us following the COME command, but he spotted a deer and off he went, High shock was... We have owned more expensive collars in the past. We use them to keep our dogs in our lawn while they are outside. These collars worked right away and the dogs respond to them quickly. The collars are different colors and the remote is simple and easy to use. I would highly recommend these collars to anyone. They work everybit as well as the highter priced ones. We paid 1/5 of what we have on other collars.

I bought the Epica dog training collar for our two German shepperds. They are quite heady at times and bark at our neighbors. I started with the vibrating option which they promptly ignored. Next I used the first level of shock.
That did the trick. Now I rarely need to use the shock . With just the vibrate they immediately become obedient.
My friend has used a more expensive model , however the Epica seems to work as well and at times better than pricier options.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful product!, March 11, 2006
This review is from: PetSafe UltraLight Sonic Bark Collar Attachment, PUSB-300 (Misc.)
This collar is not at all what I expected, obviously, and here's why. First of all, the sound the collar makes to "distract" my dog from his barking, is audible to humans as well. It's not even that high pitched of a tone, so it very rarely distracts him. And the collar activates when he's running down stairs or yawning, but not when he's actually barking or growling. This seems to confuse him more than anything. Lastly, the device takes only its own kind of battery and you have to replace it monthly. I highly suggest looking into different products for bark control.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea in theory, lousy results in practice., December 2, 2007
This review is from: PetSafe UltraLight Sonic Bark Collar Attachment, PUSB-300 (Misc.)
I've pretty much tried everything to stop my 6 month poodle from incessant whining. Group lessons, private lessons, positive enforcement, ignoring whining in the crate, banging, etc. The problem is my puppy is overly attached to people, and "overly socialized" where he's not afraid of any sound (not afraid of cars, motorcycles, etc). The whining creates a lot of strains with my neighbors and at my workplace and something got to be done about it.

I bought this device from Petsmart hoping it would work. Nope. Sound simply doesn't work on a puppy who is not afraid of sound or anything else. This device would work well on fearful dogs but not mine which has been "overly socialized." I also tried the top of the line shock collar. No cigar. These devices simply create more anxiety and escalates whining. Good thing Petsmart has a good return policy and I got my money back.

Fortunately, the Gentle Spray Bark Control device works instantly. He hates the smell and the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars This bark collar was quite helpful, September 15, 2010
This review is from: PetSafe UltraLight Sonic Bark Collar Attachment, PUSB-300 (Misc.)
I got a little worried after I purchased this collar and read all the negative reviews on here, but I gave it a shot and it's actually been a god send. My dog is also a maltese (the guy at Petco said this type works well with small dogs) and he was barking for hours while I was at work. After my first condo complaint I got the citronella collar and he was completely traumatized by it. He was hiding under the bed for hours, wouldn't play with anyone. So I took that collar back. Then another neighbor complained so I thought I would try this sonic collar. Every time he hears it, he immediately stops barking and even whining. I only heard it go off once when he didn't actually bark, which some people had remarked on. I also made a point to disconnect the battery when he wasn't wearing so the battery wouldn't run out, since I saw other people had issues with it. All and all this collar has been very helpful!!
