5.0 out of 5 stars After 4 years... eagerly buying my 2nd remote trainer, December 5, 2010

Four years ago, I purchased the PDT00-10603 generation of this product and I continue to be an avid consumer of this product. I am pasting my prior review below. But, I would like to provide an update on concerns over cruelty, which I go into with the prior review.

I use the trainer to control my dog during hikes and it works. When I pull it out and place the trainer on the counter, my dog jumps up and barks with excitement. While it charges, she lies down and "baby sits" the charger. This demonstrates, in part, that Tobi does not have any issues with this device or concerns over cruelty. It's a great tool!

Subject: Wonderful tool; fixed a critical issue

My wife and I love to hike with our German Shepherd. However, her (the dog) behavior had become an issue. Whenever, she sees another dog or horse, she loses her mind, and we lose control of her. We did not want to resolve ourselves to hike with her on a leash... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Saver!!!, March 17, 2011
This review is from: PetSafe Yard & Park Remote Dog Trainer, PDT00-12470 (Misc.)
My rescue dog is a Flat Coated Retriever. She has become more and more disobedient over the months since I have gotten her. I love her very much, but was at the end of my rope and was ready to return her after she repeatedly ran into the 55 mph road right off my acreage. She also found it necessary to run into the farmers field adjacent to my yard so she could entice the neighbor's 3 border collies in an aggressive attempt at dominance. Although I have huge yard, it would not be cost effective to fence in 12 acres. Let me also say that my dog KNOWS the commands, "come", "sit", "stay", "drop it", and "no". She would obey these commands indoors, but once we got outside, no amounts of cut up steak would entice her into obeying if she had seen or smelled a squirrel or rabbit. I had also attempted to change her behavior by asserting my dominance as the pack leader. If she disobeyed me, I would immediately tell her "NO", and make her lay down on her side for 10 minutes while I held... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked Great For Me, December 4, 2010

We got a young female hound mix from the ASPCA, and couldn't keep her in the yard. You know hounds: nose down and they're off. A neighbor suggested a radio collar.

We bought this one. I didn't go through the training regimen. She was too timid to work with. All we did was walk her around the yard on a leash some, giving the negative tone and negative voice tones when she tried to leave the boundary. Within two weeks, I started using a long lead and giving a low setting shock along with the negative voice. Within a month, she ran free with the collar and no lead.

It has been 8 months since we started with this product. We shocked her maybe 10 times TOTAL on setting 4. For the past 6, she hasn't left our property. We put the collar on every time she is out and not tied up. She rarely even tests the boundary, but a negative voice is enough to break her from a scent, another dog, or a person and have her head back to the middle of the yard with her tail... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Warning - Item Labeled Wrong, April 26, 2009
This review is from: PetSafe Training Systems Probe Pack (Misc.)
Be aware that this probe pack doesn't fit the Petsafe PIF-275-19 Wireless Radio Collar, even though it "implies that it does."

Just under item's description there is a section, "Frequently Bought Together." This has the PIF 275 in that section suggesting they can be bought together. It's obviously an over site and only a $3 one at that but it's not worth the effort....

The black plastic plates that fit under the probes are NOT SLANTED like the PIF-275 requires. I hope this helps someone not to make the same mistake. I wish someone had put this in the reviews earlier.

I should have read the reviews before buying, but I couldn't imagine why this product wouldn't fit all collars since it states it on the description. If you have the collar with the slanted washers, this pack will NOT work with it. Returning the product today.

I also have the angled washers and the collar probes are black plastic cones Witt the metal contact at the very end.

Luckily, I had to purchase a new collar, and found a customer service number on the back:

800-732-2677. M-F- 8am-8pm/ Sat. 9 am- 5

I spoke to someone who identified the correct part I needed. The pack came with two probes and two washers. Hooray!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars To Whoof, or not to whoof, that is the question, April 24, 2006
This review is from: PetSafe No-Bark Collar, PBC-102 (Misc.)
This is a must have if you live within the city limits, have fussy or close neighbors in proximity to your yard, or have a strict home owners association that prohibits excessive dog barking. I am a lab breeder and own 3 of these units. I am very pleased with the performance and function of this product because it stops "nuisance barking" by administering a minimal buzz that gradually gets stronger the longer the dog barks the lowest setting delivers your common "prankster hand buzzer" volt. And if your too squeamish about buzzing your dog, there is a "lemon spray" version of this exact brand that also works well too. Instead of delivering a buzz, it puffs a lemon deterant near the snout. For more stubborn dogs, the buzzer seems to work better. In no way is this harmful to your dog, but rather more humane discipline than verbal or physical correction by you, the owner. I believe all dogs are pleasers and want you to be happy with them. If your dog doesn't have a bark collar,... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars It definitely works, but..., July 3, 2006

This review is from: PetSafe No-Bark Collar, PBC-102 (Misc.)
I gave this product 5 stars because it definitely works as advertised. Be forewarned, however, that your dog's reaction may vary greatly from others. We purchased two. On the one dog, it worked great - after a few weeks of training, she stops barking as soon as we take out the collar and stays silent. For this dog, the device is worth it's weight in gold! The other dog, however, had very bad experiences - when she is shocked, she cries (she has a weird bark/cry/growl), but the device thinks she is barking and continues to zap, and she becomes a wreck. Thus, we can't use it on her, but on the other dog it works great.

A few other notes: it works by detecting vibrations in the dog's neck, not by sound (ie, another dog barking won't set it off), so the collar needs to be tight. If a dog has thick hair, it may not work as well. It will also take several weeks to train your dog properly with the device - the instructions indicate that you can't keep it on for more than 12 hours... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly effective!, September 16, 2007

(VINE VOICE)
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: PetSafe No-Bark Collar, PBC-102 (Misc.)
My recently adopted, very excitable dog has had the collar on a total of
maybe 3 hours over two days. Already, *without* the collar on, he has
absolutely stopped barking at (a) the vacuum cleaner, (b) the neighbor's
perpetually yapping (instigator) dog right on the other side of the
fence, and (c) squirrels (real or imagined) in the trees behind the
house. The transformation is absolutely beyond belief. Get over any "I
don't want to hurt my baby" thing you may have going on - I did too -
and buy this product if you have a barking problem. I'm floored by how
effective this thing is and wish I'd known about it years ago. I realize
that training isn't complete at this point but I've seen instantaneous
and really dramatic improvement. Good luck and I hope you have even half
the success I'm having with this product. Note to those who got a defective one - try again!

Added 2 days after my initial review - it gets better... Read more
